New Shows For Late June
Launching back onto our screens for season 2 on ITV from 8pm on Tuesday 26th June is the Alan Tichmarsh’s Love Your Garden. With three other presenters namely, David Domoney, Katie Rushworth and Francis Tophill, we see the team travelling around the UK looking for gardens that need a good makeover. In a bid to give back to those who dedicate their lives for others, we see the crew head to a home where the owner Louise lives. It’s overgrown and lacking tender loving care, so the team quickly spruces it up and turns her garden into a stunning Japanese-themed horticultural haven. Louise has a life-threatening illness yet dedicates her days to fundraising to try and help others who have the same problem.
The next TV show coming to our screens is on BBC1 at 9pm on Tuesday 26th June. It’s called Turn Back Time – The Family, where we see who Brits lived their lives in the early 1900s, before zooming forward to the present day and seeing how life has changed for families. Two families, each from completely different backgrounds, switch places from upper class to working class and middle class. Each family trying to do things differently. For example, the working class family’s daughters are thrown into the task of being the only breadwinners and yet the working mum from the Taylor family is now dedicated to being a stay at home mum. You can guarantee tempers and tantrums, and awkwardness throughout the show as we see family’s lives turned upside down.
This Saturday on Channel 4 at 10.20am sees the new season and new show called Viewer Takeover. Hosted by Will Best and Georgie Okell, the show gives the viewers the opportunity to say what is shown on the screen. Rapper Flo-Rida joins Angelos Epithemiou, a comedic star, and have to do as the audience tells them. Viewers at home can text or email the show to join in with the poll of what the daring celebrities have to take part in. Renton Skinner will also make an appearance, and this new TV show is only being trailed for three episodes, but as a Saturday morning wake-up TV it’s certainly going to bring a few wry smiles and laughs along the way as we see celebs being forced to do hilarious things live on TV.
The last show that is starting next week on Monday 25th June at 11am on Channel 4 is for the day-time TV lovers. It’s called ‘You Deserve this House’ and is hosted by the irrepressible Amanda Lamb. She takes the team of cameras to Devon to meet a dedicated fundraiser called Allen. He’s been involved with helping run a football team for kids with special needs, and yet for the past 10 years hasn’t spent a penny on himself, despite raising more than £150,000 for charity. Amanda and her team provide a stunning makeover for his home in a bid to give back to a man that has been an inspiration to others with his selfless acts of kindness towards the physically-challenged children.
As you can see, there are lots of new series opening up just as the European Football Championships come to a close and before the London Olympics start. With only a few weeks of non-sporting action, these TV shows are more than good enough to keep you entertained in the meantime.
