The UK now has one of the best collections of online TV stations available anywhere in the world, so it is not surprising that so many people want to watch UK TV abroad. However if you are not in the UK you can’t normally watch ANY of these channels, until now that is.

With your copy of Identity Cloaker and you can watch UK TV abroad, as well as those from the USA, Canada, Germany, France and more! It works by fooling the system in to thinking your computer is actually still in the UK, or any other country you wish to watch TV from.

So now to watch UK TV abroad simply open your copy of Identity Cloaker, click on the ‘Select Proxy From’ dropdown list and choose ‘United Kingom’.

Ensure ‘Disable Encryption’ is selected (you will see “Warning: Encryption disabled!“) and press ‘Connect’.

Now you can visit any of the popular UK TV services listed below.

The BBC – The premier online TV experience comes from the BBC with its iPlayer service, this offers all BBC TV and Radio stations live, in addition most programs are also offered via a cathup service for 7 days after they are shown. Programs can be streamed in real time, or downloaded for later viewing. The BBC is the home of the popular soap Eastenders, which is always broadcast live and through the catchup service.
To watch streaming content you can use either the proxy or VPN options in Identity Cloaker, to download from iPlayer you will need to use the VPN option only.

ITV – ITV offers a large range of its program content via its ITV Player service, with programs kept for 30 days at a time. ITV is the home of the long running Coronation Street. You will also find they broadcast many of their shows live directly from the ITV website.

Channel 4 – program content for Channel 4 is distributed through its 4oD service, programs are available for 30 days after transmission both through live streaming and a download service. They also offer certain premium content, archived shows and films through a pay per view service (currently priced a 1-2 pounds depending upon what you want to view).
To use this service you must select the VPN option in Identity Cloaker.

Channel 5 – until recently this service was mostly for premium content, however a recent re-launch of Demand Five has not brought a number of free programs to choose from.

TV Catchup – perhaps the best kept secret in UK TV; TV Catchup offers over 30 UK channels, including ALL those mentioned above. They offer many programs which are not included on the official sites, for instance you can see much more Channel 5 content here than you can through the official Demand Five package. Extra channels include Sky3, Dave, Sky Sports News, Virgin1 and many more. If you have trouble using any of the official services above its is worth trying this service as they offer a different encoding method which may work better for you in your location.
Because of changes to TV Catchup you are no longer able to watch this from ANY VPN services offered by any company, including Identity Cloaker. For some reason thoguh ITV does sometimes work through the iPhone interface.

Zattoo – Zattoo offer a similar service to TV Catchup, however they offer many more channels than any of the above providers. Zattoo works europe wide and offers programs in English, French, German, Italian and many more, just take a look at their lineup. Certain channels are only available in certain countries, but using Identity Cloaker you can make it seem like you are in many European countries allowing you to watch their TV. Again Zattoo operate their own encoding system which is different to those above, so if you are having a problem watching BBC iPlayer you might like to try Zattoo (and TV catchup) as these may work better for you.
To use this service with Identity Cloaker use the proxy option to signup and download the software, then you must select the VPN to use the program.

Sky TV – Unlike all the other UK TV options Sky requires an active subscription to view its content, at the time of writting it was possible to view Sky One, Sky Sports 1,2,3, Xtra and News, British Eurosport, MTV One, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr, National Geographic and Sky News. Those with a Sky Multiroom or certain Sky Broadband subscriptions can use Sky Player at no additional cost to your current subscription, otherwise a charge of £9.75 will be billed for access from Sky.
