Watch Indian TV Abroad Online

Now perhaps I should not be surprised given that India has the second largest population in the world BUT I get an unbelievable number of requests for Indian TV (though there are certainly more requests to watch iPlayer abroad than any other TV by far!). Now I don't watch Indian TV myself but I decided to investigate the options for those who want to watch Indian TV online, and I found some quite interesting options!

Now unlike UK and US TV it would seem that the copyright authorities don't restrict Indian TV in the same way as 'Western' TV, and as such there are several companies around whom re-broadcast real Indian TV online for everybody to see. The quality is extremely good, not that far off watching it in Indian itself I am sure.

The really excellent thing though is that it works both to your computer AND if you want you can purchase a box to display the pictures right on your TV. Yes the one thing that everybody wants real TV on a real TV!

The channel selection is pretty good, in fact one of the best I have seen (though the Russians get an even bigger selection from their online TV providers, more on that another day!). At the moment they are sending out 56 Indian TV channels online:

Indian Online TV offers the following channels:

Aastha Bhajan Zee Business Zee Telugu
Aastha India Zee Cinema Raj Digital Plus
Aastha International Zee News Raj Musix
Bolly Movies Hindi Zee Sports Raj News
DD India Zee TV Raj TV

NDTV India Zee Marathi
NDTV Profit ETV 2

Costs range from under $7/month for 1 channel to about $23/month for all 56 (when paid yearly) and the set top box is currently $170. They do however give you your first 2 weeks completely free, so I suggest you test it first and see how you like it.

They have a demo channel on their site, however the quality of the image on that demo is much worse than their normal service. I don't know why they include this to be honest as if anything it will put you off!
